We will pick up you up from your hotel in Moshi at 8:30 am to head to Tarangire National Park, one of the lesser known parks of the northern circuit but with the highest concentration of wildlife outside of the Serengeti! Tarangire is home to a very large population of elephants who lure attracted to the river flowing through the park year round. You will be provided with a picnic lunchbox, arriving at the park late morning before enjoying a game drive for the rest of the day. After your fill of wildlife you will head to your campsite within Tarangire National Park where your chef will have cooked up a storm for dinner.
Rise early to enjoy a morning game drive in this beautiful park. Late morning you will leave the park to drive to Lake Eyasi (approximately 3 hour drive). This afternoon you can meet the Datoga tribe, famous for being the ‘blacksmiths of Tanzania’. Later afternoon your guide can take you for a walking safari around the edge of the lake, spotting out for some of the beautiful birdlife for which Lake Eyasi is famous. You will have dinner prepared by your safari chef and overnight at Lake Eyasi campsite. Please note the campsite facilities here are quite basic – all part of the adventure!
Following an early breakfast at the campsite you will take a walk through the scattered bush to the Bushmen’s home, accompanied by your guide and a local guide that is able to translate the language of the Hadzabe tribe, which the bushmen belong to. The Hadzabe bushmen live in groups divided into approximately 10 families and they are very welcoming to visitors. You will be able to experience their typical bush life including their unique style of hunting for a variety of game meat as well as rodents, insects, roots and leaves. They sleep in caves, without fear of the wild animals that may pass by the in the night. After spending the morning with the Hadzabe you will head back to the campsite for lunch. In the afternoon you will head towards the Serengeti (literal meaning ‘endless plains’) viewing wildlife along the way as you pass through Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You will arrive in the Serengeti in time for a late afternoon game drive before setting up camp in the National Park.
With a full day in this world famous National Park you will have plenty of time to explore and find the big cats the Serengeti is well known for. On your game drive you will take a packed lunch-box to enjoy at a scenic spot. Following the game drive you will return to camp within the National Park for a delicious dinner prepared by your chef.
Breakfast at the campsite followed by both a morning and afternoon game drive in the park. Perhaps today will be the day to spot the elusive cheetah or a rare pack of wild dogs. You will have dinner and overnight again at the same campsite.
Wake early for a morning game drive then back to camp for brunch and to pack up your gear. Then you’ll head off to Ngorongoro Crater, viewing wildlife on the way. You will have dinner prepared at your campsite on the crater rim and overnight there (be prepared for the noises of zebras, maybe even elephants, walking through camp at night!)
Wake up early morning for breakfast at 6am (early starts for the best wildlife viewing) and then descend into the Crater floor for a game drive. Here in this wonderful caldera you may see lions, leopard, buffalo, elephant, black rhino, zebra, hippo, wildebeest, hyena and more! Your lunch will be served at the picnic site in the crater- Ngoitoktok swamp- you will be able to eat your lunch alongside the hippos in the pool! Following lunch at approximately 2pm you will ascend the crater to pass through the conservation area to start your return to Moshi (arrive 5:30- 6pm).
